So, 5 weeks till Christmas and no plans in sight for a get together. Is Boxing Day a possibility for most this year? We could do a brunch again at the church?

Condo Availability

Dianna & I will be unable to use the Condo from August 6th to 13th (end of our time), so it is available for others.

Also, we have notice that window cleaning will take place July 20-22/08. We are supposed to have the screen inside (on both bedroom windows) and the windows closed when they are cleaning. I do not believe they do the patio windows/doors!

Zabiran's are in

We'll be there with our desserts. Nuff said.

Before you respond...

There is a way to foil you all.

Jill, we'll take your kind offer.

Sue, we'll be there early. We have to leave right after to get to the condo.

You will just have to take my word for it that I am twirling my moustache right now.

July 1 Reply

I have a proposition that could make it more comfortable for those hesitant to respond -- Steve had requested early access to the condo in Canmore (ie:  July 1).  I had told him in no uncertain terms he could not come early (always trying to push the limits, isn't he).  However, if I were to offer him the opportunity to be in Canmore on July 1, the rest of us could feel at ease confirming back to Sue, knowing Steve will NOT be at the brunch.

With that in mind, Steve, it seems the condo will be open July 1 after all.

Sue, the Munks (Ironman Trevor included) would be delighted to attend.

Cheerio!  Jill

Ross Party Reply

We'll be there with our Schwartzie's Hashbrowns (husband negligible-still negotiating with clients).  Have a nice long weekend everyone!

Canmore June 13,14,15

It appears we will not be able to take advantage of the condo this weekend, so it is available. The only issue is we have not got Ricardo to clean it. We did wash the bedding  - but did not vacuum.

We will try to get him in before the weekend - so let us know if you can get up there.

Thanks & Regards,
GM

So...

It seems now that we all know that Steve and Tina are going to try to crash the party, everyone is fairly quiet on the subject.  The Ross family is unable to commit wholeheartedly this early, Darren will be working some of those days, and our kids are still playing soccer, so if plans are made and we can make it, we would be delighted (even if S & T are there) :)

Nice!

Nice try, Robin, but we've learned our lesson about letting people know when we will be out of town. You'll just have to plan this not knowing whether or not if we can attend.

Also, the I'm-sorry-didn't-you-get-the-email-about-the-last-minute-change-in-venue tactic won't work either. We're going to follow one of you.
Dianna & Gord can handle June 28/29 or July 1. We cannot devote much more time, since Dianna is saving up her vacation days for our Europe trip in the fall. So, although Elkford sounds wonderful, we cannot travel that far this year. We are game for anything within a couple hours drive. Thank you Sue & Miles for the offer, and for handling the process so far.

We still have not figured out if Steve & Tina will be otherwise engaged - so let's stay on top of this!

Gord (& Dianna)

Wait a Minute

Hold your horses little lady - don't we need to wait and confirm that Steve and Tina will be in Canmore or Vegas or something before we go making any family plans???

Canada Day party

Hey there everyone -- I wanted to follow up from Sue's message re: July 1 party (or some date near there).  In some conversations it has been noted Elkford would be very far (although beautiful).

What about a day at Sylvan Lake water slides?  Or a car rally (since fuel is so affordable), or a bike scavenger hunt through the river valley. . .

My bigger concern/question is the date any such event might be held.  We have relatives from Europe (Trev's) coming and we would plan our itinerary with them around the family thing:  Trevor would love to see you all, and they'd love a day at West Edmonton Mall.

I'm wondering if the weekend before would be a good option (June 28/29) -- the following weekend is Stampede, so we thought we'd take the Danes to the rodeo and eat pancake breakfasts (July 5/6).

Please comment on your availability and/or activity desires so Sue and Miles can confirm if they are still game to do the plan.

Cheers,
Jill

Testing the picture thing

Last time I tried to add a picture . . . . it didn't work. So here we go again. If you're wondering . . . yes, we do already have him in piano lessons and

hockey. He will be starting pottery classes in the summer and then follow-up with ukranian dancing in the fall. He just keeps begging us to keep him busy, and we're doing our best to keep up with him.

Thanks, Miles

The email notification is great, Miles. Well done.

Can everyone check with their family to make sure everyone is receiving it?

Help for Jill...

Jill,

Sorry about this but I haven't been to look at this in a while. Who is still checking this? If anyone needs help signing in and putting up a blog, let me know. I'd really like to keep using it.

As for posting pictures, as I type this I see a picture icon in the toolbar. Clicking on it will allow me to add an image. A window comes up that allows me to browse my computer for the file. Once I select it there are a couple of layout options and then a big button to 'upload the image'. That's it. Once you find the 'add image' button the rest is pretty simple.

Um, Lex is afraid of the dentist.

Canada Day 2008

yes, we do want to do something to celebrate our 141st b-day.

however, we are throwing around all kinds of ideas in hopes that we can come up something fun and different, including everyone coming out to our place in elkford, b.c...... it is a wonderland and has an amazing "lion's" campsite along the beautiful elk river and a couple of motels..... it is a very small community and there will functions going on including one of the best little fireworks presentations we have ever seen....... anyone interested in mountain biking, hiking, flyfishing will be in heaven PLUS for the kids: elkford has THE BEST POOL (incredible laid back staff, salt water) in the world..... our kids can attest to that. Fording built it for this mining community along with other amenities........... ok, enough of the sales pitch!

anyways, just an idea ................stay tuned.... but any thoughts would be appreciated!

First timer

Dear all:

Thanks to all who have updated the blog -- it is fun to go back and read the fine interactions we have going on. . . I would like to note that months ago I wrote a response to Robin's inane fabrications about the nose picking and foot fungus, but I didn't do it correctly and I have no idea where it went. . . Clearly not to this blog spot!  We are great -- loving Calgary and its proximity to the mountains.

I wanted to post a few photos of the family gathering from Feb, but I also don't know how to do that.  As well, I thought it prudent to check if anyone is opposed to photos of themselves or the kids going to this space.  I certainly wouldn't label the names or whatever. . .

Steve -- can you let me know how to post photos?  I'm sure you're curious how we all go on without you.

Sue -- any further dates / details about a possible June/July gathering in your direction?

Cheers to all -- Jill

happy new year to all

It has been a very busy fall and early winter as I am sure it has for everyone.

In the last couple of months, we have been fortunate to have done some travelling and vacationing. Sue has especially been on a tear. October 22 - 29 saw her in Jamaica for FAM Trip, I then joined her adventures when we travelled to our place in Nanoose Bay November 10 - 14; she then left three days after that for a weekend with the girls in Vancouver November 17 -19; we then took my kids to La Romana, DR for the week of November 23 - 30 and capped the year off with a weekend Christmas celebration with the MacIsaac Group of Law Firms December 7 - 9.

Christmas was great. We all received an obscene amount of gifts. Steve and Tina had Christmas Dinner at their new house and it was fabulous. We hosted a small gathering on the 23rd for brunch. My kids and I spent New Year's on Salt Spring Island at my friend Tom's. We tried to track down and surprise Jim and Beth in Victoria. Keeghan remembered the red door. We rang the doorbell and were greeted by a nice young couple who indicated that the Millards had moved out as of December 01. We were short on time, so we opted to find their new place on another visit.

Brennan celebrated his 21st birthday on December 30th. Sue stayed home and a birthday party was held at Steve and Tina's. Brennan scored big: two trips to Vegas (one from each parent both of whom forgot to tell the other what they were gifting their young man).

Sue and I spent this last weekend at the Emerald Lake Lodge in tonnes of snow. It was absolutely picturesque and classic Canadiana Rockies. Our next big trek outside of perhaps a quick hitter to Vegas will be to take Sue's boys on beach vacation somewhere this spring. Until then, it is time to stay home and make good on some of those resolutions............
